📝 Description
Astral Viron AP 8 Active Glass Filter Media (57013) is a 15kg bag of coarse grade, recycled glass filter media for pool media filters, used as the bottom layer that covers the laterals inside the tank.
The glass is actively charged during manufacture. That negative charge lasts for the life of the media and attracts organic particles, so the media bed filters around 30% more organic material than sand and down to 5 microns. Longer times between backwashes and shorter backwash cycles also help cut water use.
Coarse grade is always used together with the Fine grade glass media (57011), which forms the top layer and does the fine filtering.
