When we come and perform your sand/glass change we will also service your MPV. This offer excludes all DIY sand changes.
WHAT IS A SAND CHANGE?
Although we now use Glass media instead of Sand media, due to many reasons including:
- Longer lasting
- Easier maintenance
- Cost savings
- Less waste
- Better filtration
We still commonly refer to the glass or sand media change as a sand change.
A sand change is the process of emptying your media/sand filter and replacing it with fresh glass media. Sand and glass media filters, can be emptied and refilled with recycled glass media. The new glass media is made from recycled beer and wine bottles. Better for your pool and better for the environment.
The amount of glass media required is dependant on the size of your filter. Two different size glass particles are used, as was the case with the old sand media. Which means you will need bags of both fine and course glass.
THE QUANTITY OF GLASS REQUIRED
How many bags of glass needed (course and fine) is based on the size of your filter. The bigger the filter, the more that's required.
There can a small variation in bag quantities from one filter to the next, but to make it simple, we have provided an easy drop-down menu to select bags based on the diameter of your filter.
THE IMPORTANCE OF A MULTI-PORT VALVE SERVICE
Have you noticed how stiff the handle is on top of your filter?
That's your MPV or Multi-port. It's stiff because it needs a service. Over time parts ware and build up with gunk. What that means is you need to service the MPV. It's something we believe should be done with every single sand change as standard.
PICKUP, DELIVERY, INSTALLATION
This is a bulky item, so special pickup and delivery options have been made available.
FREE PICKUP
Free pickup is available from the Braeside warehouse between 8:30am and 12 noon, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays and within 7 days of ordering).
Note: Both course and fine bags of glass weigh 15kg each.
DELIVERY
We have a flat fee for delivery, within our local delivery range.
We will however deliver to any Melbourne metro suburb for an additional $15, calculated at checkout.
Not sure if that includes you? Place the order and if we cannot deliver to you, we will simply let you know, cancel the order and fully refund the entire purchase price. Otherwise if you choose, you can always pick up from our warehouse (as above) and we'll refund the delivery charges (must be pre arranged prior to loading our delivery vehicle).
INSTALLATION
The service/installation is carried out by one of our trusted partners in accordance with our directives to ensure a consistent quality and result.
Changing the sand/glass in a filter is a messy job and outdoors is the place for such a task. If your filter is indoors or difficult to get to, please contact us before purchasing.
In most instances this job is carried out by two people due to the weight of materials and amount of physical labour required.
