The Dontek TS01P (20 m, 1131015) and TS08P (50 m, 1131025) are heavy-duty Plus series hot roof sensors for Dontek Plus solar pool heating controllers, including the AS2+, AS3+ and AS5 models.
The roof sensor tells your controller how hot the solar collectors are, so it can decide when to run the pump and send heated water to your pool. Choose the 20 m or 50 m cable to suit the run between your controller and the roof. Either one is a straight swap for a faulty, damaged or too-short Plus series roof sensor, and both sit in a heavy-duty polypropylene housing.

Plus controllers only. These are the Plus versions of the roof sensor and suit the Dontek AS2+, AS3+ and AS5 controllers. Check the model on the front of your controller before you order.

Choose your cable length. Pick the 20 m or 50 m cable to cover the run from your controller to the roof sensor position.

🔧 Our Tips

Test before you replace. Swap the pool and roof sensor plugs between the controller sockets. If the error follows the sensor, the sensor is faulty. If the same error stays in either socket, the controller may need repair.

Check the plug and cable first. Poor plug connections, corrosion and loose leads cause many faults. If the cable is damaged, cut out the damaged section and re-join it, or replace the cable. Damage is not always visible, and cables that run underground can be damaged or waterlogged.

Keep it off the gutter. Position the sensor on the roof so it does not sit in or overhang a gutter, because a sensor that reads too cold can trigger an out-of-range error.

Beware of lightning. Lightning can damage roof sensors and controllers.

Which Dontek controllers does it suit? The Plus series AS2+, AS3+ and AS5 controllers, including our Aquasun 2+ (AS2+) and Aquasmart 5 S and Aquasmart 5 CD (AS5). Digital controllers (V1, V2, V4, V5, V7, AS2 and AS3) need the Digital roof sensor instead.

What does a roof sensor do? It measures the temperature of your solar collectors so the controller knows when the roof is hot enough to heat the pool, and when to turn the pump on.

My controller shows an error. Is the sensor faulty? Dontek lists 77/99 as an open circuit, 66/88 as a short circuit and 67/89 as out of range. A damaged cable, a poor plug connection or a sensor sitting in a gutter are common causes, so check these and try the socket swap test before you replace the sensor.
