The Sunlover Heat Command 5 is a digital solar pool heating controller that compares roof and pool temperatures and runs the solar pump (or solar valve) only when the roof can add heat, with a large LCD, winter mode, auto sampling and a self-diagnostic program.
Set your target water temperature and run times, and the controller does the rest. Auto sampling makes sure you get the maximum heat gain, winter mode saves energy and equipment, and surge protection with a built-in fuse protects the unit. A clock with battery backup keeps your settings through power failures.
Five versions cover different solar systems:

HC5 (SLHC5): standard controller for a separate solar pump system, with pool and roof sensors.

HC5-RB (SLHC5-RB): as the HC5 but with a battery-powered wireless roof sensor, so no sensor cable has to run to the roof (range up to 100 m in open space).

HC5FS (HC5FS): for retro-boosted systems where the solar pump draws from the filtration system; runs the solar pump only when the filter pump is running and water is flowing (flow switch sold separately).

HC5 AV (SHC003/A): for retrofit systems that divert filter water to the roof through a 3-way valve, with adjustable solar run times; includes valve and actuator.

HC5 SV (SSC018): combines roof solar with a heat pump or gas heater on one heating circuit, switching a 3-way valve between solar and the heater; includes valve and actuator.

Separate solar pump or not? If your solar has its own pump with its own suction, choose the HC5 or HC5-RB. If the solar pump draws from the filter system (retro-boosted), choose the HC5FS. If filter water is diverted to the roof by a valve, choose the HC5 AV.

Solar plus a heater? The HC5 SV runs solar and a heat pump or gas heater together on one heating circuit.

HC5FS needs a flow switch. The FSA50 50 mm flow switch with tee is sold separately.

Mounting. Mount at least 3 m from the water's edge and 600 mm above ground, out of direct weather.
🔧 Our Tips

Roof sensor position. Fit the roof sensor on the same roof as the collector, ideally within 50 cm of the gutter.

Pool sensor position. Fit the pool sensor in the side of the pipe (not the top) before the pump, close to the pool and out of direct sun.

No coiled cable. Cut off excess sensor cable instead of coiling it, and don't tie it to 240V wiring. Solder and heat-shrink any joins.

RB batteries. Replace the wireless sensor's AA batteries every year with good quality alkaline batteries.

Limited 3 year back-to-base warranty from Sunlover against component failure or faulty workmanship from installation. Temperature sensors, flow switches and actuators carry 12 months.
